The Bible and Homosexuality

Saturday afternoon, Harvard undergraduates watch the screening of Matthew R. Vines’ ‘12 video “The Bible and Homosexuality” in Harvard Hall. Vines’ video argues that the Bible does not oppose same sex relationships.


Admissions Letter Send-Off

Each year, the staff of the Harvard Admissions Office gathers on admissions day to load the decision letters--the product of months of hard work--onto the mail truck to be sent to thousands of anxious high-school students around the world. Here's a peek into the action from this year's send-off.


God vs. Gay

Jay Michaelson, author of “God vs. Gay? The Religious Case for Equality,” speaks at Harvard Hillel on Thursday. Michaelson spoke of the ways in which religious values interact with acceptance of LGBT people.


Emotions

The staff members cheer as they load the acceptance letters, wish for luck as they load the wait-list letters, and silently load the rejection letters as they send letters to the 34,302 applicants to the class of 2016.

Patricia DiCarlo Fagioli, an information processing coordinator who has worked in the admissions office for 26 years, carries the last box of decision letters to the truck.


Accepted

Admissions Office staff members form an assembly line to load the letters onto the mail truck, starting with the acceptance letters and following with the rest of the letters.


Harvard Ranks High for Lack of Free Speech

Harvard often faces the challenge of becoming overly accustomed to praise, regularly occupying the top few spaces of worldwide university rankings. However, a recent article in the Huffington Post shows that ranking high is not always a good thing, at least according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).


Dr. Lisa Wade explains the sexual objectification of women. Wade gave a talk called "Sex Machines vs. Sex Objects: How Stereotypes Subvert Sexual Pleasure" in Fong Auditorium on Wednesday.


College Opens BGLTQ Office

Members and supporters of the bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer community gathered in Fong Auditorium on Tuesday to recognize the grand opening of the Office of BGLTQ Student Life.


Advising Fortnight Opens with Annenberg Event

Advising Fortnight began on Monday night with a kickoff event in Annenberg Hall. Representatives from every academic department at Harvard engaged them in conversations regarding their future studies.

Five Most 'Colorful' Sex Week Events

The organizers of Harvard's first annual Sex Week hope to spark a campus-wide discussion on issues ranging from sexual health and communication to gender identification and sexuality. Sex Week, which runs through Saturday, has well over twenty different events planned. From abstinence to BDSM, there is something for everyone. And with event names like these, we are confident students will have plenty to talk about. Without further ado, five of the most colorful events, in chronological order:
