Harvard Library To Contribute "Crown Jewels" to Digital Public Library of America
When the Digital Public Library of America officially launches on April 18, 2013, anyone with access to a computer will be able to study and enjoy the “crown jewels” of Harvard’s Library system, which spans 73 physical libraries and approximately 17 million volumes.
Correlation Still Doesn't Equal Causation in Soda Studies
We've all heard about the supposed health risks of drinking soda—there's too much sugar, it's bad for you, it'll rot your teeth, it'll rot your mind, etc. With so many studies and reports being published, it's hard to tell what to believe. Recently, a Harvard teaching facility has admitted to promoting inconclusive data while another Harvard study links soda consumption to increased aggression.

In a year defined by what Flyby will refer to as the "Internet Blow Up," any slightly amusing online trend instantly became fodder for every blog and/or facebook status update. What once made us laugh now gives us the urge to report as spam, or at least vomit a little in our mouths and then all over our keyboards.

More than a month since the last "From the Tip Box" article, a great deal has happened in the world of Flyby's email account. This past month saw Housing Day and the rankings leading up to Housing Day, which inspired a number of Tip Box comments. Still, some continued to unknowingly use the tool as a search engine and others tried to search only to realize seconds later the error of their ways (see March 28.) All in all, we saw a good balance of innocent searches, Flyby-directed comments, and useful, if not strange, animal-related tips. Below, a selection.
Harvard Atheist Bible Blogger
Chelsea S. Link '12, a self-described atheist, has never been afraid to challenge mainstream religious beliefs or the views of her own family members. "My grandmother almost had a heart attack when she found out," she said. Link is refering to her New Year's resolution to read the Bible from cover to cover by the end of 2012 and blog about her reactions to the Old and New Testaments on her website "Blogging Biblically".
Zuckerberg's Emails Released Due to More Legal Drama
Paul D. Ceglia, an entrepreneur who claims that he invested $1,000 to help get Facebook off the ground and was offered half of the website's future shares in return, filed a lawsuit in 2010 against Mark E. Zuckerberg with alleged email exchanges as proof. Zuckerberg's lawyers, in return, recently released emails that the famous Harvard-dropout wrote during his time in Cambridge in an attempt to disprove these claims.

Showing You Care Never Tasted So Good
March 11 marked the one year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami disasters in Japan. In 2012, the aftereffects of the natural disaster have not yet subsided, and many in Japan still find themselves without home or job. A Cambridge-based fundraising initiative called Bake For Japan hopes to give buyers the chance to make a difference in the lives of impacted individuals while simultaneously indulging buyer's sweet tooths.
