At a turnaround elementary school in Hyde Park on Saturday, a group of Harvard Graduate School of Education students teamed up with a local public service organization to help brighten the hallways with inspiration.

Children’s literature is more important than ever in an increasingly fast-paced society, according to a panel of five authors and two filmmakers hosted by the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Marc Adams discusses the challenges of growing up gay in a religious conservative environment. Adams, the gay son of a fundamentalist Baptist minister, shared his own experience growing up at the Graduate School of Education to promote HeartStrong, a support organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people who are negatively impacted by religion-based academic institutions.
