Harvard Sophomore Invited to Try for Canada's National Junior Team
When Canada took on the United Sates for the gold medal in ice hockey at the 2010 winter Olympics, rising sophomore Louis Leblanc was one of nearly a dozen Canadians on the Harvard men’s hockey team rooting for their countrymen in hostile territory. But while Leblanc and his fellow Canadians may have been outnumbered by their American teammates, it was the Canucks who got the last laugh when Sidney Crosby’s overtime goal gave Team Canada the 3-2 victory. While Leblanc was only able to cheer on his compatriots from afar this past winter, the next time Canada goes up against the United States in international competition, Leblanc could be right there on the ice.

Louis Leblanc was one of 41 skaters invited to the development camp of Canada’s National Junior Team.

Winter break was good to freshman forward Louis Leblanc. Leblanc scored three game-winning goals in three straight league games in January, leading the team to upsets against top-10 teams, including No. 5 Yale.

Last weekend at its awards banquet at the Harvard Club of Boston, the Harvard men's hockey team named juniors Michael Del Mauro and Chris Huxley as its 117th and 118th captains. Classmate Kyle Richter was designated as assistant captain.

Men's Hockey Blanked by Cornell, Season Over
The Harvard men’s hockey team (9-21-3) battled through difficult first and second periods before finally falling, 3-0, to No. 9 Cornell (19-8-4) at Lynah Rink in the second game of its ECAC quarterfinal series on Saturday night.
Crimson Drop First Game in Series
The Harvard men’s hockey team dropped the first game of a three-game quarterfinal series to No. 9 Cornell on Friday night. The Big Red used the energy of its fans, the talent of its freshmen, and the effectiveness of its power play in a dominant 5-1 win over the Crimson at Lynah Rink.
Biega Bounced
Captain Alex Biega and the men's hockey team had to hang up their skates after a season-ending loss to No. 9 Cornell this past weekend. Harvard fell 3-0, ending Biega's stellar career with the Crimson.
Richter Scale
Kyle Richter, shown here in earlier action, made 21 saves against Cornell on Friday night, but the Big Red offense was too much to handle, netting five goals en route to taking the first game of the series, 5-1.
Junior's Efforts Come Up Huge
The talented yet inconsistent junior goalie Kyle Richter had the best two-game stretch of his season last weekend in the first round of the ECAC playoffs, recording 33 and 37 saves respectively on back-to-back nights as Harvard swept the Princeton Tigers.

Mauro of the Story
Junior Michael Del Mauro notched the eventual game-winning goal in a tense opening-round matchup of ECAC's between Harvard and Princeton this weekend. The Crimson went on to win the first contest 4-2, before taking the series in two games.
