Dual Win Keeps Harvard Men’s Swimming Unbeaten
After the second event of the meet, there never seemed to be a question that the men’s swimming and diving team would cruise to victory against Columbia.

Sophomore diver Michael Stanton helped the men’s swimming and diving team to a resounding victory over Columbia on Saturday. Stanton and freshman teammate Joe Zarrella swept the diving events, with Stanton claiming the three-meter title while Zarrella captured the one-meter win.

Junior Niall Janney, shown here in earlier action, earned two individual wins in Harvard’s season-opening sweep of Cornell and Dartmouth on Saturday. Janney won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:49.48 and the 200-yard butterfly in 1:49.12 and was part of the second-place 200-yard medley relay.

Co-captain Alex Meyer led the Crimson men’s swim team to another strong season, in which the squad finished second to Princeton at the Ivy League Championships once again. Meyer ended the season on a high note, placing 14th in the 1,650-yard freestyle at NCAA’s to earn All-American honors.

Co-captain Alex Meyer traveled to Columbus, Ohio for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships seeded 20th in his only event. But after 15 minutes, the Crimson senior had left that ranking in the dust.

Co-captain Alex Meyer, shown here in earlier action, finished his Ivy career in spectacular fashion. The senior took home individual titles in the 500-yard, 1000-yard, and 1650-yard freestyle at the Ivy League Championships and was named the career-high point swimmer in the conference.

The Harvard men’s swimming and diving team couldn’t make a big enough splash this past weekend, as the Princeton Tigers swam their way to the Ivy League Championship.
