It's the Season for Apple Picking

For some, picking apples from a tree as opposed to off a shelf in a dining hall might equate to unnecessary expenditures of energy. After limited sleep and seemingly endless amounts of reading, this view is, on the one hand, understandable. On the other hand, this means missing out on one of the season’s quintessential experiences.


E.J. Barnes, class of 1980, graduated from Harvard with a degree in Chemistry and Physics but decided to become a comic artist later in life. Her works are displayed here among many others at the expo.


David Marshall, who teaches classes on drawing comics, introduces patrons to the art in a mini-workshop. The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo took place Saturday at the Lesley University.

This past weekend, the Boston Lyric Opera concluded its run of “Agrippina,” an Italian opera written by German composer George Friedrich Handel. With visual richness, delightful humor, and creative staging, the performance offered a brief escape into scandalous ancient Rome.
