Reading Period: Expectations vs. Reality
You may have hopes of studying efficiently, eating well, exercising frequently and not going insane, but we all know that as soon as you click on that first Buzzfeed list, things go downhill and before you know it four hours and all hopes of a productive day fall to the wayside (don't worry, you're probably going to get an A anyway). Where is the Love?: Mother's Day Edition
They say that a parent's love is unconditional, but if you want to keep receiving care packages from Mom, it can't hurt to show her some love on Mother's Day. CUE Debates Banning Reading Period Assignments
Though discussion of a proposal to alter reading period was eclipsed by revelations about the extent of faculty email searches at Tuesday’s faculty meeting, the Committee on Undergraduate Education continued to debate the possibly of banning due dates for assignments during reading period at their meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Reading Period Reimagined
On Jan. 6, the Committee on Undergraduate Education discussed a proposal [LINK 1] to change the structure of reading and exam periods. Under the proposal, assignments such as final projects and papers would no longer be due during reading period, and instead on specified dates during exam period. As Harvard examines how this would change the last weeks of each semester, Flyby took a look around to see how some other schools handle it.
Proposal Could Eliminate Assignments Due During Reading Period
Final papers and projects will no longer be due during reading period if a proposal discussed at Wednesday’s Committee on Undergraduate Education meeting comes to fruition.
