James Blake ‘01, the former Harvard tennis star who reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world in 2006, wears many hats today: tennis player, commentator, tournament director, charity director, author, public speaker, and many more. Ten years after retirement, Blake continues to break barriers as he brings his life and tennis experience to the sport.

Records Breaking, Ancient Eight Fencing, and Team USA: An Interview with Harvard Fencing’s Head Coach Daria Schneider
In only four years in her role as the head coach of Harvard fencing, Daria Schneider has made quick work of the Ivy League. In addition to winning two team Ivy League championships, in 2020 and 2023, Schneider has coached several players to individual Ivy League championships. Moreover, she is the first female coach of a men’s Ivy League fencing team, setting a new standard for equality amongst the Ancient Eight schools.

TD Garden to Host 45th Women’s Beanpot Championship
For the first time in its history, the Women’s Beanpot will be contested in an NHL arena. On March 21, the TD Garden announced that the 45th Dunkin’ Women’s Beanpot Championship will be played at TD Garden, home of the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, on Jan. 23, 2024.

Few people know Mufi Hannemann ‘76 for his exploits as a basketball player. As an alum of the Harvard men’s basketball team, Hannemann has become a distinguished leader in both business and politics, working in three presidential administrations (Carter, Clinton, and Bush), serving as the Mayor of Honolulu for six years, and most recently leading the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, Hawaii’s largest private tourism organization, as President and CEO, his second stint holding that post.

Football to Face St. Thomas in Home-and-Home Series in 2023 and 2029
Starting in 2023, Harvard football will add a new opponent to its ledger; the team announced via its Instagram account on April 12 that it will play a home-and-home series against the University of St. Thomas, beginning with a clash at Harvard Stadium on Sept. 16, 2023, and ending at O’Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul, Minn., on Sept. 15, 2029.
