Activists, Law Profs Divided on Title IX Decision

Student activists and the lawyer behind the original Law School complaint have praised the findings and expressed cautious hope for the future. Law School professors who previously denounced Harvard’s sexual harassment policy, meanwhile, criticized the decision.

Peshawar Vigil

Members of the Harvard community hold candles on Tuesday evening during a vigil at the John Harvard Statue for the 141 people killed by militants from the Pakistani Taliban at an army-run school earlier that day. Member of the Pakistani Students Association, which hosted the vigil, and Pakistani native Manhoor F. Khan ‘17 explained that she is grateful for the support of attendees “because after a certain point things like this eventually become routine at home.”


Watching the Service

According to the event program, attendees were invited to join the choir in singing "Silent Night" to commemorate the centenary of the Christmas Truce of 1914, when British and German soldiers fighting in World War I temporarily halted attacks in acknowledgement of the holiday. As the choir readied to begin singing "Silent Night," some attendees closed their eyes, others looked straight ahead, but all were silent.
