The John Harvard Statue Moves from Memorial Hall to Its Present Location

Every Friday, The Crimson publishes a selection of articles that were printed in our pages in years past. March 22, 1924: John Harvard Statue To Move to New Position Before University Hall Action has been taken by the Corporation of the College to have the statue of John Harvard removed from its present site on the Delta, west of Memorial Hall, to a position on the west side of University Hall, where the bronze, map of the Yard at present stands. Marathon Training, Cow Suit Style

Have you spotted this cow around Harvard Sqaure? If so, that's probably because he's actively training for the 2012 Boston Marathon. Underneath the costume is Christopher F. Allison '12, a Molecular and Cellular Biology concentrator who is aiming to raise $5,000 for pediatric cancer research and treatment at the Mass General Hospital for Children. Allison has partnered up with JP Licks, and in exchange for support from the ice cream shop has agreed to train for the marathon and eventually run the marathon in full cow suit garb.

Linsensitivity: The Ice Cream Edition

Ben & Jerry's in Harvard Square is showing its Linthusiasm with a new frozen yogurt flavor, "Taste the Lin-Sanity". Ordering it comes with a cute gimmick: shoot a basketball, and if you make the basket, you get a $1 discount on the froyo. What's inside, though, is less benign. The original frozen yogurt contained honey lychee swirls and fortune cookie pieces, according to manager Ryan Midden in an interview with the Boston Globe.

Harvard's Bold Hatmakers

Hats are making a comeback, according to employees at Goorin Brothers Hat Shop, which opened a franchise on Brattle Street this past August. The store's selection includes a popular fedora named Mortimer, a funky line of baseball caps titled Animal Farm, and a $140 hat called Johnny Blue Eyes with fold-down ear flaps. As the shop settles into its new home, The Crimson stopped by to learn about its history, merchandise, and which hats will keep you warm on snowy October nights.
