Women's Soccer Wins At-Large Bid, Headed to the NCAA Tournament for the First Time Since 2016
Two long days after Harvard completed its regular season with a win at Columbia, the Crimson can finally exhale. On Monday afternoon, Harvard (12-2-1, 5-2-0 Ivy League) learned that it earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where it will join Ancient Eight rivals Brown and Princeton. The Crimson will travel to face Wake Forest (15-5-0, 7-5-0 ACC) in Winston-Salem on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Women’s Soccer Comes from Behind to Beat Columbia 2-1, Now Awaits Selection Decision
Harvard responded well to going behind on a brisk Saturday afternoon in New York City, scoring just 38 seconds after Columbia took the lead and adding what turned out to be the game-winning goal on the stroke of halftime to squeak past the Lions, 2-1. The Crimson remained unblemished on the road and will hope that its resume is good enough to send Harvard (12-2-1, 5-2-0 Ivy League) into the NCAA Tournament when the selection committee makes its decision on Monday afternoon.

It took just four minutes into the game for the Crimson (10-1-1, 3-1-0 Ivy League) to get onto the scoreboard, when junior forward Angela Caloia found the back of the net with a blistering shot, thanks in part to precise playmaking and assists from senior midfielder/forward Sophie Hirst and first-year midfielder Hannah Bebar. Hannah Bebar calmly received the ball with her back to goal and took a touch before turning and firing into the top right corner to put Harvard up 3-0. By the time the ball rippled the net for the third time at Jordan Field, it had become clear that the Crimson will present a different type of challenge for Ivy League defenses this season. In their last four meetings, No.15/23 Harvard (7-0-1, 1-0-0 Ivy League) and Penn (5-2-2, 0-1-0 Ivy) had scored three combined goals. The Crimson matched that total on a sunny Saturday afternoon, cruising past the Quakers to open the conference season with a resounding win.
Undefeated Women’s Soccer Receives National Recognition ahead of Ivy League Opener
When No.15/23 Harvard entered the Top Drawer national women’s soccer rankings after just three games, more than a few eyebrows may have been raised. The Crimson had not been ranked by either Top Drawer or the United Soccer Coaches poll since November of 2016, when Top Drawer ranked Harvard 24th for one week before dropping the Crimson out of the rankings.
