A National Champion in 2010, J.P. O’Connor ’10 has returned to campus to serve as an assistant coach while training for the 2012 Olympics. He had previously been planning on applying to medical school.

The Harvard women’s squash team is led by captain Alisha Mashruwala, a three-time All-American. Mashruwala and her teammates will have their work cut out for them as they try to match last season’s success.
Patty Melt
Junior Patty Smith, shown here in earlier action, stepped in for injured rookie starter Elise Molnar and sparked the offense for the Harvard women’s water polo team this weekend. Smith netted a hat trick in the Crimson’s first contest, helping the squad to a 15-9 victory over No. 19 Cal State Monterey Bay in California.
Guruge Band
Sophomore Nirasha Guruge fell in her semifinal battle against Yale but bounced back to defeat her opponent handily in the national championship match against Penn, helping the women's squash team to a 6-3 victory. The Crimson captured the Howe Trophy with the win
Katherine the Great
Co-captain Katherine O’Donnell played in her last matches at the Barnaby courts over the weekend, winning her match against Penn. Harvard clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title.
Guruge Band
The Crimson’s No. 2 player Nirasha Guruge endured a grueling weekend, going five sets against Trinity and Stanford. The sophomore split her matches, topping the Lady Bantam’s Nayelly Hernandez on Saturday.
Hey June
Junior June Tiong swept her Big Red opponent, Liza Stokes, as part of No. 2 Harvard’s 9-0 drubbing of No. 6 Cornell on Saturday. The Crimson was bolstered by its strong freshman class, including Laura Gemmell, Natasha Kingshott, and Sarah Mumanachit—all of whom picked up wins.

Senior receiver Matt Luft and the Harvard offense look to continue their decade-long dominance of Yale in the 126th playing of The Game.
BLACK, WHITE, AND GOLD
The Radcliffe heavyweights competed in NCAAs last weekend, where the Varsity Eight (above) took on the top crews from around the country. In its last race, the EAWRC Sprints, the Varsity Eight finished just 0.9 seconds behind 2008 NCAA champion Yale.
