Evelynn M. Hammonds, Dean of Harvard College, reported in an email to the Harvard community on Monday that over the past weekend, a Wetu, a traditional Wampanoag home erected in Harvard Yard as a commemoration of the 360th anniversary of the Harvard Charter, had been been vandalized and misused.

Students from the Native Americans at Harvard College (NAHC) and members from the Harvard University Native American Program (HUNAP) are constructing a wetu, a domed semi-permanent structure that was traditionally built by Northeast tribes in the springtime, in Harvard Yard this week to commemorate the site of the 17th century Indian College.
