Marathon Memorial
Many people brought signs; flowers; and other tokens to a memorial set up at the barrier on the intersection of Boylston and Berkley Street; just a few blocks beyond the marathon's finish line. These shoes were brought by Lisa Mara, a Bostonian runner who finished fifteen minutes before the blasts. Other items included a marathon medal, candles, and numerous handwritten letters.

Professor Dever, a distinguished archaeologist with extensive experience excavating in Israel and the Near East, presented slides and discussed recent excavations of Solomonic temples and cities.

Offering cool drink specials like "the Undertow" or the "Honey Badger Latte", the baristas at the Gato put a cool spin on coffee and tea. Customers can choose from a wide selection of black and green teas in addition to customizing their own lattes with different milks and flavor syrups.
Lattes and Laptops
On bad-weather days, the inside of the Gato is packed and one is often hard-pressed to find a seat. The small tables and prevalence of laptops often means sharing a table with a new friend, or searching for a new location.
