A WOMAN'S DRESS.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

SYLPH-LIKE, all silken,

Languishing along

The velvet carpet,

A seductive song,

Soft, sympathetic,

Promising to bless,

Hear I the music

Of a woman's dress.

Fondly, yet fearfully

Nearing the chair,

Buoyed on sweet breezes

Perfuming the air,

Rhythmically rustling,

Seeming to express

Love in distant dream-lands,

Is a woman's dress.

Lo! its murmur ceases,

Leaving me alone,

With a sigh of sorrow

Gone its tender tone;

When a brighter vision

Breaks upon the scene,

There arrayed in beauty

Stands my very queen.
