Cornell follows the example of Harvard and Amherst in establishing a professorship of physical training.-Prof. Edward Hitchcock, Jr., of Amherst, has been appointed by the trustees of Cornell University to the position of Professor of Physical Culture and Hygiene. The Professor will arrive in a few days, and the large gymnasium, recently erected, will be filled with the best gymnastic apparatus. It is probable compulsory gymnastics will be required of the two lower classes, following the system in vogue at Amherst.
