In commenting on the recent annual report of President Gilman of Johns Hopkins University, the Advertiser says: "The fact that the Baltimore experiment has had highly interesting and gratifying success, proves nothing against Cornell, Ann Arbor, Yale or Harvard, and the friends of Harvard in particular have good ground for maintaining that beside much else, there is attempted in Cambridge that very work which gives Johns Hopkins its distinctive character."
