Miss Agnes Emory won the Howland prize for an essay on civil service reform at the commencement of the University of Kansas.

The University of Berlin advertises for persons to translate scientific works into modern Greek, Roumanian and Servian.

The value of grounds, buildings and apparatus of the universities and colleges of the United States is estimated at $40,000,000.

The reception given last evening by the President to the members of the Freshman class, although quite an innovation, was a decided success and was pronounced a very pleasant affair by all who attended.
