Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
Some thirty members of the Shooting Club assembled in Holden Chapel last evening for the annual election of officers. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mr. Frye, '86. The report of the treasurer, Mr. F. B. Austin, '86, was read and accepted. From Mr. Austin's report, it appeared that the finances of the club were in a very satisfactory condition, as the cash on hand at the beginning of the present year was $103.00. The next business was the reading of the president's report. The main points of this report were recommendations that the club continue to use the Watertown grounds for trap shooting; that the subject of rifle practice be given some attention; that a series of "smokers" be held during the winter months; and that, if possible, a match be arranged with the Yale Gun Club.
A glance at the records of the past two years, as tabulated in the above report, shows the work done by the club to have been as below.
1883-4 1884-5
Number of Match Days, 16 14
Number of Events, 44 60
Number of Entries, 595 605
The members now enrolled in the club number sixty.
The election of officers for the ensuing year followed the reading of the president's report, and, Mr. Frye declining a re-election, Mr. W. H. Slocum, '86, was elected president. The other offices were filled as follows: vice-president, W. Austin, '87; secretary-treasurer, W. Oakes, '87; executive officer, F. S. Palmer, '87; senior director, J. A. Frye, '86; junior director, F. S. Meade, '87; sophomore director, M. H. Clyde, '88. On motion of Mr. Meade, the secretary was instructed to correspond with the Yale Gun Club in regard to a match. After passing a vote of thanks to the retiring president and secretary, the meeting adjourned.
