The Pittsburgs played their first game in the amateur series yesterday morning, and were defeated by the Crimsons by a score of 21 to 5. Owing to the large number of runs made by the Crimson's heavy batters, and seeing that each inning only increased their opponents lead, the Pittsburgs asked to have the game called at the end of the sixth inning. The feature of the game was the strong batting of the Crimsons, W. Faulkner, Bancroft and R. Faulkner excelling in this respect. The score by innings:

Innings 1 2 3 4 5 6

Crimsons 5 2 5 1 4 4-21

Pittsburgs 2 0 0 0 3 0-5

Base hits - Crimsons, 18 for 22; Pittsburgs, 4 for 5. Errors - Crimsons, 6; Pittsburgs, 11.
