The Institute of Technology beat Williams yesterday on the Union grounds in Boston, 22 to 0. The game was an important one in the series. If the Tech. eleven beats Stevens Institute in the coming game, Dartmouth and Tech. will then be tied for the championship and Tech., last year's champion, will also hold the championship for 1889.

During the first half the game was hotly contested. Duane, captain of the Tech. team distinguished himself again and again by his powerful rushes and fine passing. As soon as the ball was in play it was rushed towards Williams goal. Williams returned with a kick which carried the ball near Tech's line. Durfee saved a touchdown by a series of fine rushes, gaining five yards at a time, and carried the ball into the middle of the field. Duane was hurt time and again, but pluckily kept on playing. Williams kicked; Germer, of Tech., caught it and making the finest rush of the first half, passed the whole Williams team, but was downed near the line. Duane carried the ball across and scored the first touchdown in forty minutes. No goal. Score, 4-0.

In the second half, Williams played carelessly and allowed Tech. to break through and score soon after the ball was put in play. Goal. Score, 100. Duane started from Tech's territory and made a fine rush through the Williams team; he was caught, but passed to Mead, who carried it over the line. It was the finest play of the game. Goal. Score, 16-0. Williams gave up playing. Tech. rushers made holes at will and Duane scored the last touchdown from which a goal was kicked. Score, 22-0. The teams were made up as follows:
