Lectures in History at Princeton.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A notable prominence is being given to the department of history at Princeton and Yale this year. As has been stated before a large number of lectures on topics of general history is to be given this winter at New Haven for the benefit of Yale men. A similar movement has been started at Princeton. The course will be inaugurated by Professor Tripp. His subject is "Historic Portraitures."

The first evening will embrace the lecturer's reminiscences of the great Paris Revolutions of February and June, 1848, followed by a picturesque delineation of the adveturous career of Prince Louis Napoleon, from his birth to the Imperial throne, with pen sketches interwoven of others of the Bonaparte family, and a glance at the present political situation in France.

The second evening will include a thorough elucidation of the momentous Eastern Question, with the latest complications threatening the peace of Europe, followed by a vivid delineation of the great battles of the Crimean War of 1854-5, the whole illustrated by large colored maps painted expressly for this series.

The third evening will be a graphic portrayal of the ill-starred Mexican Expedition, from the beginning to the tragic close, with sketches of a number of the chief actors of the period, including many personal reminiscences of Maximilian and Carlota.
