The library report for the year ending September 1, 1888, shows an increase of 481 volumes, 1, 607 parts, and 121 pamphlets. The details are as follows: Gift-29 volumes, 36 parts, 10 pamphlets; exchange-141 volumes, parts 613, pamphlets, 91; purchase-50 volumes, 149 parts, 5 pamphlets; A. Agassiz-79 volumes, 809 parts, 15 pamphlets; binding parts-182 volumes.
The number of volumes now in the Library (exclusive of pamphlets and the Whitney Library) is 17, 703. There are 11,564 pamphlets bound in 1, 528 volumes, making the total number of volumes 19,431.
