Second 'Varsity Crew.

The so-called second 'varsity crew appeared on the river yesterday afternoon in the old '89 shell with Parker, '89, acting as captain. The crew is designed to give practice to both the 'varsity and freshmen substitutes and to other possible candidates for either crew; also to give the 'varsity practice in racing. In two spurts yesterday the second 'varsity showed up remarkably well and promises to give the regular crew excellent practce. The crew was made up as follows: Bow, Woodworth, '91; 2, Winthrop, '91; 3, Gorham, L. S.; 4, Hebard, '89; 5, Perry, '89; 6, Carpenter, '88; 7, Parker, '89; stroke, Perkins, '89.
