Eleven pairs have entered for the whist tournament of the Chess and Whist Club, which will begin this evening. The following rules have been adopted to govern the playing: All contestants will meet this evening at 7 o'clock in the rooms of the club. Matches will consist of the best three games out of five, and seven points will constitute a game. The results of the games must be left with Mr. O. Everett, 16 Little's. The players have been divided into two sections. In the first round each pair will play every other pair in their section. The two couples winning the most games in each section will enter the final round. Prizes will be given to the winners of first and second places in this round. All games in the first round must be completed before Saturday evening, March 2. The executive committee may declare forfeit any game not played on the appointed date. The authority for the rules of the game will be the sixteenth edition of "Cavendish."

Herrick and P. S. Abbot; 6, H. H. Baker and F. P. Denny. Section B.- 7, F. S. Rogers and P. Y. DeNormandie; 8, 0. Everett and F. W. Burlingham; 9, P. K. Brown and E. A. Darling; 10, B. H. Dickson and L. W. Chamberlin, 11, K. Brown and W. W. Mulford. This evening number one will first play against number two, number three against number four, and so forth.
