The result of the athletic games on Saturday adds one more to Harvard's long list of victories on the track. To the men who represented the university so honorably and successfully we wish to extend our heartiest congratulations. The victory was clearly earned, and by a score much larger than we had dared to expect. Many a point was won by a very narrow margin, but in every case it was pure grit and determination which decided the event in Harvard's favor. In spite of rain and wind, the games never lacked in excitement. All in all they were, from a standpoint of interest, the best that have ever been seen on Holmes field. We believe that a few more contests of this kind on home grounds will raise the Mott Haven team to the position in college which is its due. There is not another athletic organization which has met with so unparalleled a success or done more in an athletic way for the university. Unfortunately the students as a body do not see the team in its great struggles at New York in competition for the "Mott Haven Cup." This fact has tended to depreciate the importance which the university as a whole puts upon this branch of athletics. We venture to say, however, that it will not be many years before all this prejudice will completely disappear. Certainly it is an enviable honor to win such a victory as Saturday's and Captain Thompson and his men may well feel pleased with their success.

To Mr. Lathrop is due a hearty expression of thanks. He started the year with a mass of new material, but with comparatively few of last year's team. His success is shown in the success of the team. He has kept up with his past reputation and little more could be said in his favor.
