At the meeting of the Yale corporation on Thursday it was fornally voted to establish a department of music in the university, with Gustavus J. Stoeckel, for many years Yale's instructor of music, at its head. A fund of nearly three hundred thousand dollars has been placed at the disposal of the corporation, with which to erect a suitable building and provide for the employment of several instructors.
