The Yale freshman nine is already in training, as well as the crew. About seventy candidates went to work Saturday. Their exercise for the present will consist of short runs and light gymnastic work. After the first reduction in the number of candidates the men will have the use of the cage for a short time on Saturdays. Case, who played on the Andover team last year, is captain. Among the other candidates are Word and Ewing from Exeter and Rustin from Andover.

The candidates for the freshman crew have been at work three weeks. The men have been divided into three crews, according to merit, and each has the use of a separate tank. On the first of March the men will go to the training table. Their names and weights as they rowed Saturday are as follows: Paine, 185; Bartlett, 185; Sedgwick, 168; Dunkerson. 167; Polk, 169; Loomis, 165; kinney, 165: Stothers, 165: Howland, 164; McDuffy, 164; Hiel, 162 1-2; Furbish, 162; F.
