‘The Architect of the Whole Plan’: Harvard Law Graduate Ken Chesebro’s Path to Jan. 6
The following letter has been received from the graduate treasurer in regard to the freshman crew:
BOSTON, June 5, 1891.
Dear Mr. Morgan:
Judging from the action taken last year I feel safe in saying that the athletic committee will not allow the freshman crew to go to New London unless it has sufficient money to meet its expenses while there. This will call for about one thousand dollars. To meet this you now have less than one hundred dollars in cash. Of the surplus turned over to me by your football team you are entitled to five hundred dollars, so that it will be necessary for you to raise at least five hundred dollars between now and the time your crew wishes to leave for New London. You should at once take prompt action to ascertain whether your class takes interest enough in the matter to send your crew to New London.
WILLIAM HOOPER, Graduate Treasurer.
J. H. MORGAN, ESQ., Treasurer.
Any man who feels that he can give anything at all will please send it to me immediately.
J. H. MORGAN, 22 Beck Hall.
