The '94 crew rowed on the river yesterday for the first time this year. The eight-oared barge was used. There were no floats in position at the boat house and the tide was very low thus giving the men considerable trouble in getting the boat to and from the water. The crew rowed in the positions given in yesterday's CRIMSON and it was the first time on the river for several of the men.
The rowing was confined to the space between the Boylston St. and Western Ave. bridges, as the ice was too thick to go beyond them. The men derived much benefit from the afternoon's work. It made them feel the difference between rowing in the tank and in a moving boat and showed them that they must be decidedly quicker.
