Resignation of Dr. D. W. Cheever.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dr. David W. Cheever, professor of surgery at the Medical School, has resigned his professorship, and has been appointed professor of surgery emeritus in recognition of his long and distinguished service in surgery. Dr. Cheever is one of the oldest active surgeons in Boston, and has been connected with the Medical School for many years. It is probable that either Dr. Charles F. Porter or Dr. J. Collins Warren will be elected to the vacant professorship. Dr. Porter is at present professor of clinical surgery and Dr. Warren is associate. Should the latter be appointed, he will fill the lecture chair held by his father and grandfather in the early days of the school.
