Brewer and the ball was on Brown's 50 yard line. Aided by good interference, but chiefly by his own dodging, Brewer got through the whole field and was not downed until he was at Brown's 10 yard line. The attacks on the centre and guards would not work, so Fairchild went back for a goal from the field, but the kick was blocked. It rolled over the Brown line, however, where Thayer was tackled and forced to make a safety touchdown.
The ball was brought out to the 25 yard line. McCarthy punted only to the 40 yard line. After gaining some 25 yards, Harvard could make no more progress against Brown's centre. Again Fairchild went back for the drop kick and again the ball rolled along the ground and Robinson got it.
Brown made two attempts to get through the line, but in vain. Next, for a change, a criss-cross was attempted and Murphy ran around Harvard's right end. With good interference he got 30 yards, when he was tackled by Brewer. It was one of the prettiest tackles ever seen on Soldiers Field.
Harvard got the ball on four downs. Brewer punted to Brown's 10 yard line. Again Harvard got the ball on four downs. In three short rushes Brewer carried the ball across for the final touchdown, making the score 26 to 6.
The half was nearly up. Brown kicked off to Borden, who passed to Brewer. Brewer made a beautiful run and before he could be stopped had made 60 yards. Time was called with Harvard in possession of the ball on Brown's 20 yard line.
