It was announced on Monday by the Princeton baseball association that there would be no games between Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania this year. This is a result of the recent action of the graduate advisory committee, as also of the Faculty committee on outdoor sports, and is based on the ground that the athletic contests between Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania have been the occasion of intense bitterness during late years.

This bitterness the Faculty declares leads to rough play and threatens the integrity of amateur sport and therefore it is desirable that all games with the University of Pennsylvania be discontinued for the present. Mr. Bissell, when interviewed in regard to the communication, said the Faculty committee had acted in accordance with the position taken by the graduate advisory committee, which also advised that no games be played with Pennsylvania this year.

"The reason for the action, I am informed," he said, "is the intense excitement and rivalry which has existed for some time between the two universities, and the sentiment which has been growing for the past few years in relation to the baseball contests between the two institutions. It is not intended, I understand, to cripple Pennsylvania, nor to be a final cessation of athletic contests between the two universities, but simply to be a suspension of athletic interests for a time in the hope that the present high feeling may be moderated."

Princeton's decision was influenced in no way by Yale's refusal to play Pennsylvania, and the statement that was published recently that Yale had communicated with Princeton and asked her to take this course is false. The management deny emphatically that they have been approached by Yale at all.
