Yale's First Home Game.

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 30.- The first home game of the football season attracted almost every member of the University to Yale Field this afternoon. Amherst was the opposing team and was defeated 12-0. Yale put her strongest team in the field and though she played a much better game than against Trinity last Saturday, it was shown that the weakest part was at centre.

Yale won the toss and took the south end of the field as a strong wind was blowing. Amherst at once pushed the ball into Yale's territory but Yale's goal was not at any time threatened.

It was plain, straight football, with no fumbling. In 15 minutes Murphy and Goodwin had each scored a touchdown and Hinkey kicked the goals.

In the second half Yale substituted seven men, but Amherst kept them from scoring. The second half lasted only 10 minutes.
