The senior team found little trouble in defeating the English High School eleven on Soldiers Field last Saturday, the score being 18 to 0. Ninety-seven played a strong offensive game, the line opening up good holes for the backs, and the interference between end and tackle being very strong. Rantoul and Johnson did well in the line, while back of the line Hallowell and Garrison played the best game. The school team had the ball bulittle and showed a weak defence. When they did get the ball their interference was fairly good, but most of the men had a tendency to fight with their opponents rather than play football.

'97 gained ground almost at will in the first half, making two touchdowns by Carret and Sleeper. In the second half neither side scored until shortly before time was called, when Garrison got the ball on a fumble and made a brilliant run of 35 yards for a touchdown. Hallowell kicked all the goals.

The seniors lined up as follows: Pitts, Fenno, l.e.; Sleeper, l.t.; Scott, l.g.; Fitz, c.; O'Connor, r.g.; Johnston, r.t.; Rantoul, r.e.; Garrison, q.b.; Carret, l.h.b.; Weld, r.h.b.; Hallowell, f.b.
