Although a few games still remain to be played in the chess tournament, E. E. Southard '97 having won nine and a half out of ten games. is sure of first place.

The intercollegiate tournament will be played as usual in New York City during the Christmas Recess. Play will begin Monday, December 28, and will continue through the week.

Owing to the unfinished state of the college tournament, it has not yet been decided who will represent Harvard at New York. The two players and the two substitutes will, however, be chosen from the following list, which has been sent, according to the intercollegiate rules, to Mr. Caswell of New York, chairman of the executive committee of the cup donors. W. C. Arensburg 1900, C. L. Barnard '97, W. B. Cutting 1900, C. H. Dunn M., H. C. Ffoulke '98, J. Hewins '98, A. W. Ryder '97, E. E. Southard '97, and F. E. Thayer '99.
