The third regular debate of the club was held last evening on the subject: "Resolved, That capital punishment shall be abolished." The speaking was, on the whole, energetic, and showed careful thought and preparation.
At the next meeting, on Nov. 15, there will be no debate, the time being given to the regular election of officers. On Nov. 22 the subject will be: "Resolved, That the United States Government should own and operate our railroads." The speakers chosen are W. A. Heilprin and J. A. Cook for the affirmative and R. W. Cheney, and L. M. Dougan for the negative.
