On Saturday the candidates for fielding position on the freshman nine were given fielding practice on Soldiers Field as usual. The battery candidates practiced in the cage. Today, however, the whole squad will meet on Soldiers Field and the practice will assume a more definite form. E. Stevens '97, who played shortstop on his frehsman nine will come out to coach the infielders, and two batting nets will be erected.
Since the beginning of the season some ten men have been dropped and the squad will continue to be thinned out gradually. The men will go into regular training in about two weeks. Manager Howe expects to have the schedule finished in a day or two.
