The freshman team easily defeated Boston Latin on Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon. During the game both nines were changed several times and some delay was caused by the smoke from a fire in the grass behind the field. Only eight innings were played.

The freshmen went to the bat first, Thompson reached first on an error, Morse and Lynch received bases on balls, Thompson was forced at the plate by Sherwin's hit to Pitcher Morse, Lynch and Sherwin scored on McCall's hit to right. J. Nowell was out at first. McCall scored on Davis's hit, but Litchfield was out at first. Four runs.

For Boston Latin Bolster struck out. Maguire was out at first. Kelley had a base on balls, but Woodbury was out at first.

In the second inning, A. Nowell made a safe hit and reached second base on two passed balls. Thompson and Morse reached first on bases on balls and Nowell scored on another passed ball. Thompson scored on Lynch's hit and Morse on a wild pitch. McCall struck out. Lynch scored on J. Nowell's fly to left field. Sherwin reached first on an error and came home on passed balls. Davis struck out. Kane and McGauley, of the school team, struck out. Robinson reached first, but was out trying to steal second.

Litchfield and Thompson were out at first and A. Nowell struck out in the third. For Boston, Bufford was out trying to steal second after he had reached first on a safe hit. Quincy was out at first. Bolster and Maguire reached first, but Kelly flied out to Morse.

In the fourth inning, Morse was out at first. Lynch made a hit and Sherwin reached first on balls, but McCall struck out and Sherwin was out trying to steal second. Woodbury, for Boston Latin, struck out. Kane and McGauley were out at first.

J. Nowell began the fifth inning with a two-base hit. Davis was caught out on a fly. Litchfield made a sacrifice hit and A. Nowell was out at first.

In the second half of the inning, Robinson and Miller were out when Bufford reached first. Murphy flied out to Sears. Score, 9-0.

In the sixth, Thompson reached first on an error. Robinson made a hit to left field. Farr fouled out and Sherwin flied out. Thompson and Robinson scored on a wild throw to first of McCall's hit. Galbraith went to first on balls. McCall scored on Baldwin's hit and Galbraith scored on a throw to second. Litchfield flied out.

For Boston, Maguire and Bolster were out at first. Woodbury reached first and stole second, and scored on Kane's hit. Robinson flied out.

In the seventh, Sears reached third on Kane's wild throw, but was put out at home in trying to score on Thompson's fly to left. Robinson hit safely and went to second on a wild pitch. Farr fouled out.

For Boston Latin Miller made a hit but was forced out at second on Bufford's hit to pitcher. Bufford was out stealing second, and Maguire flied out to right.

In the eighth Jaffray and McCall were caught out on flies, Galbraith and Baldwin reached first but Litchfield was out on a hit to pitcher.

In the second half Bolster struck out. Woodbury stole second after having a base on balls. He came home on Jaffray's wild throw of Kane's hit. Robinson struck out and Quincy flied out to Jaffray.
