Dr. Winsor's Funeral.

The funeral of Dr. Justin Winsor was held from Appleton Chapel yesterday afternoon. The Chapel was filled with friends and representatives from the different organizations with which Dr. Winsor was connected. The services, which were conducted by the Rev. S. M. Crothers and the Rev. Francis G. Peabody, were simple and impressive. There was no eulogy. The choir sang "Beati Sunt" and "Integer Vitae." The pall-bearers were:

President Charles W. Eliot, LL. D., representing the University.

Professor George L. Goodale, S. D., representing the Library Council.

Professor Edward Channing, Ph. D., representing the Historical Department, and the American Historical Association (of which Dr. Winsor was formerly president).

Professor James M. Peirce, A. M., representing Dr. Winsor's class, 1853, President Eliot being also a member.

Dr. Samuel A. Green, representing the Massachusetts Historical Society, of which Dr. Winsor was vice-president.

Melvil Dewey, Secretary of the University of New York, representing the American Library Association, of which Dr. Winsor was the first president (1876) and president again for the current year.

Mr. James L. Whitney, representing the Boston Public Library, of which Mr. Winsor was formerly librarian.

Rev. Edward E. Hale, D. D., representing the American Antiquarian Society.

Samuel H. Scudder, S. D., representing the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Professor William W. Goodwin, D. C. L., LL. D., representing the American Philosophical Society.

Mr. William C. Lane, Librarian of the Boston Athaeneum, representing the Harvard Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and the Harvard Memorial Society.

Professor J. Collins Warren, M. D., representing the Thursday Evening Club.

The ushers were: Professor Albert Bushnell Hart, W. H. Tillinghast, Assistant Librarian, Professor Ephraim Emerton, B. R. Robinson, A. C. Potter, Henry H. Edes, Winthrop H. Wade, George C. Deane, W. B. Briggs.
