Ninety-nine won the class championship yesterday afternoon by defeating 1901 by the score of 12 to 8 in the deciding game of the series. The game was played on the 'Varsity practice field.

The game started with 1901 in possession of the ball. A strong wind was blowing directly against the Freshmen and prevented them from gaining ground on punts as '99 often did. Hallowell kicked off and '99 returned the punt. Again 1901 kicked but failed to gain ground and the ball was almost on 1901's line. In the next play Jaynes got the ball but was forced back and downed behind his own goal. This safety was made within two minutes of start of play. On the next start Jaynes fumbled badly and 1901 seemed to be thoroughly demoralized. '99 broke through at will and Holden especially made several good plunges into the line. '99 finally lost the ball and 1901 kicked and secured the ball on their 30-yard line. '99 was then given the ball and 10 yards for off side play. A few moments later 1901 was again penalized. The Juniors then began to kick and kept up this style of play until they were on 1901's 10-yard line. Daly was hurt and Putnam took his place. 1901 held well on their 4-yard line but '99 got the ball and Adams was sent over the line for a touchdown. Adams also kicked the goal.

Ninety-nine returned 1901's kick, but Putnam fumbled and '99 got the ball. Adams and Macomber then made long runs. Adams was hurt and Simpson took his place. A moment later Macomber made the second touchdown. The ball was not caught on the punt out and the half ended with the score 12 to 0 in favor of '99.

At the beginning of the second half '99 kicked off and 1901 started in by making several good gains. Jaynes was especially good at advancing the ball; 1901 rushed it to '99's 12 yard line only to lose it on a fumble. At first, '99 was unable to break through the Freshman line, but Macomber when given the ball made a substantial gain. '99 kicked but 1901 blocked it and started in on guards back plays. The Freshmen broke through the line and Jaynes scored their first touchdown. Hallowell failed to kick the goal. A few moments after the next line-up Hallowell made a 30 yard run around left end. Peyton also gained through the line. By steady rushes Peyton was forced over the line for another touchdown. Hallowell again missed the goal.

Only a few more minutes of play remained and the ball was kept near the middle of the field until time was called.

The Junior eleven was particularly strong in the line and seemed to find it easy to break through 1901. Adams played a fine running game. Holden was good at making gains through the line.

The Freshmen showed up very poorly in the first half, particularly at the start
