SENIOR ELECTION.

The election of '98 class officers will be held today in Holden Chapel, from 8 a. m. until 5 p. m. The election will be conducted on the Australian plan, as adopted by the class in its meeting on Dec. 1. An official ballot will be used and the voting will be secret. At 5 balloting will stop, and the doors will be closed. It is expected that by 8 the result of the election can be posted at the CRIMSON office, and the official count will be announced in the CRIMSON on Thursday. There have been no withdrawals from the list of nominations published Monday.

Rules of Voting and Election.1. ELECTORS. Only those students are eligible electors whom the College Office certifies to be candidates in 1898 for the degree of A. B., or B. S., or C. E.

2. The following are the officers to be elected: Secretary, three Marshals, Orator, Poet, Odist, Ivy Orator, Chorister, Class Committee (3), Class Day Committee (3), Photograph Committee (3).

3. An official printed ballot will be used, on which names of candidates will be entered for the several places in alphabetical order. The elector must prepare his ballot in secret booths, to be provided.

4. Every elector shall vote for three candidates for Marshals, indicating by 1, 2, 3, his preference for First, Second and Third Marshal. Of these three elected, that candidate receiving the highest number of votes cast for First Marshal shall be elected First Marshal; of the other two elected. that one whose total vote for First and Second Marshal is the greater, shall be Second Marshal; the other candidate being Third Marshal.

5. Every elector shall vote for three candidates for each committee, indicating by "C" his preference for Chairman. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes for each committee shall be declared elected. Of these three elected, that one receiving the highest number of votes for Chairman shall be the Chairman of the Committee.

6. For other offices, an elector shall vote for not more than one candidate; and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be declared elected.

Preparation of Ballots.1. A single official ballot will be given to each elector when his name is checked from the list.

2. On receiving his ballot, the elector will immediately proceed alone to one of the booths and prepare his ballot.

3. If a ballot is defaced or spoiled in its preparation, it must be returned before another will be given.

4. If any part of a ballot is improperly marked, it will be rejected only as to that office for which it is defective.

5. After depositing his ballot, the elector will be expected promptly to leave the enclosed space.
