Saturday afternoon the Freshmen, by their own good team work and wretched playing on the part of their opponents, easily defeated Exeter by the score of 19-2. With the exception of a fly ball muffed by Foster the team played an errorless game.
In the second inning, with the bases full, Hatch started the hitting by bringing in the three men while in the same inning Lewis, with a three base hit brought in two more runs. After this the outcome of the game was never in doubt as the Freshmen steadily increased their lead. Goodridge was hit so freely that he was finally taken out of the game and Shaw put in his place but neither were up to the standard of Carter, the regular Exeter pitcher who is being saved for the coming Brown game. Exeter was also weakened by the loss of Little at third as is shown by the six errors made by Chase, his substitute.
For the Freshmen, Cutting, Lewis and Edmunds played well.
The score by innings:
Innings, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
1900 0 7 5 2 1 3 0 0 1-19
Exeter, 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 0-2
