Professor Adolf Cohn of Columbia, spoke last night before the Circle Francais on " Modern French Political Life."
He described the leading statesmen and orators in the Chamber of Deputies at the president day, taking up first M. Brisson, President of the Chambers, and then the leaders of each of the five parties, the Royalists, Anarchists, Moderate Republicans, Radicals and Socialists. M. Jaures, undoubtedly the most gifted and effective orator France has seen for a long time.
In closing Professor Cohn dwelt on the complete and proven honesty of these men and their devotion to France, and said that the recent newspaper stories of corruption were utterly foolish and impossible.
