Two matches were played Saturday afternoon in the Newton Tennis Tournament. The final match in singles for the indoor championship of the United States was won by L. E. Ware '99, who defeated H. Ward 1900, in three straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, 6-1. In the doubles, E. R. Marvin '99 and M. D. Whitman '99, defeated C. R. Henderson, Jr., 1901 and H. McK. Jones 1901, 6-0, 6-1. Ware and Scudder won from Horton and Blanchard by default.
The finals in doubles between Marvin and Whitman, and Ware and Scudder will be played the first part of the week.
