Hon. John Simpkins '85, United States representative from Massachusetts, died Saturday night at his residence in Washington, D. C. He was born in New Bedford, June 27, 1862. After preparing at St. Mark's he entered Harvard with the class of '85.

He became interested in public life soon after leaving college, and in 1891-92 was a member of the Massachusetts Senate. For many years he was president of the Republican Club of Massachusetts. While in college he was a member of the Institute of 1770 and of the Hasty Pudding Club.
