The quarter mile handicap race, for the cup offered by S. Gannett Wells '86, was won Saturday afternoon by H. H. Fish '99. The time was 50 3-5s. and the conditions were excellent.
Fish won by a pretty spuit on the home stretch. Bremer finished strongly a yard behind Fish. He was forced to slow up on the final turn and was consequently late in beginning his spurt. S. H. Bush 1901 was a close third.
On account of the small number of men out, the third and fourth heats were run in one.
The summary follows:
First heat, won by M. L. Bernstein 1901 (10 yds.), time 51 4-5s.; J. L. Bremer 1 Med. (scratch), second.
Second heat, won by H. H. Fish '99 (5 yds.), time, 51 4-5s.; second, A. B. Ruhl '99 (10 yds.)
Third heat, won by S. H. Bush 1901 (5 yds.), time, 51 4-5s.; C. D. Draper 1900 (10 yds.), second.
Final heat, won by H. H. Fish '99 (5 yds)., time 50 3-5s.; J. L. Bremer 1 Med. (scratch), second; S. H. Bush 1901 (5 yds.), third.
