The students of the University of Michigan have presented a petition to the faculty requesting that work for the intercollegiate debates be allowed to count towards a degree.
Mr. J. B. Woodworth, of the Geological Department, is writing an elementary text book in geology, which will be published by Scribner's Sons. The book is designed for use in the secondary schools.
Thirty-five candidates for the lacrosse team met in Lower Massachusetts last evening. Brief addresses outlining the spring work were made by W. G. Mortland '00 and R. H. Grimes 1L. Practice will begin this afternoon in the Gymnasium.
