Yale won the University race at New London on June 28, Harvard winning the Freshman and four-oared events. Four days before the race Captain Higginson broke a bone in his leg and was obliged to retire from his position at stroke. Harding who had been rowing at 2 was put in at Capt. Higginson's place and Bullard who had been rowing in the four, was put in at 2.

After the race Charles Minot Sheafe 3L., of Seattle, Washington, was elected captain.

The Freshman race was finished in 12 minutes, 1 second, with the Yale Freshmen 18 2-5 seconds behind. The four-oared race was finished in 13 minutes, 22 seconds, with the Yale four 11 4-5 seconds behind.
