In arranging the inter-class debates this year the Executive Committee of the University Debating Club has decided to have all preliminary trials begin immediately after the mid-years. It will thus be possible to have the debates between the classes finished by the time of the April recess without interfering with the Princeton debate or the Boylston Prize speaking, both of which will come in the early part of May. In reality, all the inter-class debates will end with the Pasteur Medal debate on April 9, the subject for which is now being arranged by the French Department and the University Debating Club and will be given out March 15.

The first trials for inter-class teams will be those of the Sophomore and Freshmen clubs. The question for this debate will be announced in the CRIMSON on February 11 and the Freshmen will make their choice of sides within two weeks. The Sophomores will hold their trials on February 15 and 18, with the following board of judges at both trials: W. Catchings '01, H. P. Chandler '01 and H. B. Kirtland '01. The judges have been instructed to choose as many men as they wish at the first trial. W. Catchings '01 has been appointed to coach the Sophomores in their debate with the Freshmen, March 8.

The first Freshman trial will be held on February 14 at which the following men will act as judges: W. M. Chadbourne 1L., P. A. Atherton 1L., and S. G. Wellington 1L. At this second trial on February 18, the freshmen will have as judges, H. A., Yeomans 1L.; and M. Season good 1L., and E. Ong 1L. W. M. Chadbourne will probably coach the Freshman team that is to meet the Sophomores.

The Seniors will hold but one trial for their debate with the Juniors on February 14. The judges will be R. C. Bolling 2L., M. Season good 1L., and one other not yet secured. M. Season good will coach the Seniors for their debate with the Juniors. The Juniors will be coached by R. C. Bruce '02.

The Pasteur medical debate will take place April 9 between the winners of the Senior-Junior, Sophomore-Freshman debates. The upper-class team will be coached by H. P. Chandler '01, the lower class team by H. B. Kirtland '01.
